  • Tupac Shakur – Born 1971 as Lesane Crooks. He has sold over 75 million records making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. With Suge Knight and Death Row Record, Shakur was a vocal participant of the East Coast – West Coast Hip Hop rivalry with Notorious B.I.G and Bad Boy Records. On Sept 7. 1996 Shakur was shot in Las Vegas, Nevada and died 6 days later
  • Eminem – Born 1972 as Marshall Mathers. He has 10 number-one albums, selling over 245 million albums and the only artist to have 8 albums consecutively debut at number #1. He is the first rap artist to win the Academy Award for best original song “Lose Yourself”
  • Snoop Dogg – born 1971 as Calvin Broadus Jr. Discovered by Dr. Dre, he has sold over 23 million records in the U.S. and 35 million worldwide. His first album, “Doggystyle” debut at Number #1 and became certified 4X Platinum
  • In 1987, Ice T’s debut album, “Rhyme Pays” put Gangsta Rap on the map by becoming the first Hip-Hop album to carry the “Parental Advisory” label. 30 years later, the Iconic Black and White Advisory label is an inseparable and recognizable part of this music genre.
  • Jay-Z – Born 1969 as Shawn Carter. One of the best-selling musicians of all time, having sold more than 100 million records and receiving 21 Grammy Awards. He holds the record for most number one albums by a solo artist at 14. Jay-Z married singer Beyonce in 2008
  • Notorious B.I.G. – Born 1972 as Christopher Wallace. He is ranked as one of the top 10 Rappers of all time. Raised in Brooklyn, his debut album “Ready to Die” made him the central figure in the East Coast Hip Hop scene and by his second album, he was embroiled in the East Coast-West Coast Hip Hop Feud. On March 9, 1997 he was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. The album “Life After Death” was released 16 days later, rose to Number 1 and certified Platinum in 2000, one of the few Hip Hop albums to receive this honor.
