A little over 50 years ago, the Beatles were putting the finishing touches on the “Abbey Road” album. Disgruntled, exhausted, and wanting to go their separate ways, The Beatles agreed to complete the album and on August 8, 1969 as they left the recording studio photographer Iain Macmillan snapped the photo which became the iconic album cover.
Fast forward and it’s now the year 2020. As I reflected on the original image and album, it occurred to me that The Beatles even under tremendous adversity managed to venture out independently and to continue onto paths of great success, just as we will as a society. Two songs from the album, “Come Together” and “Here Comes the Sun” inspired me to create my version of the image as an original oil painting entitled “Social Distancing 2020.” This painting depicts The Beatles triumphantly walking across Abbey Road only this time they are spaced six feet apart.
The original oil painting is 20”x48” and limited-edition prints are available in two sizes
